Ordering. We accept orders by Telephone, Online, Bank Transfer and in person in at our Chepstow shop. Our business bank account details are: Barclays Bank PLC, Account name: Tortoises4you Ltd, Sort Code 20-18-17 Account Number: 03111512

If you make payment for your order by Bank Transfer, please then email us at sales@tortoises4you.shop with full details of your order. This information must include your name, delivery address, post code, your email address, and contact telephone number. We will then email you within a few hours, to offer you the next available delivery date.

Nationwide Delivery Service. Our very popular Animal Welfare approved delivery service HiFlyers Couriers currently are only able to deliver in England, Wales and most parts of Scotland. Sorry no delivery available to Scottish Islands, Northern or Southern Ireland, Isle of Wight  or the Isle of Man. All sales of tortoises from us, are always supplied with a Free written Caresheet, and a safe plant list. After your purchase, you are still available to contact us with any further questions, or seek further advice.

Collecting from our Chepstow shop. If you order on this website, and wish to collect from our shop (by appointment) you will automatically be charged delivery at Checkout. If you order and then send us an email, stating you intend collecting from our shop, we will refund the paid delivery charge to you, usually within 24 hours.

Minimum age to purchase Vertebrate Livestock. As you the customer are purchasing a live animal from us, you confirm by making a purchase from us, that you are (a) 16 years of age or older, and (b) that you have the appropriate knowledge and housing to provide for the continued welfare of the tortoises(s). If you are ordering from us online, we are happy to offer you the correct care advice by telephone, to ensure your choice of species of tortoise is right for you and the tortoise. If you would like our telephone advice, please telephone our shop at a reasonable hour on 01291  40 84 00. This business phone number automatically diverts to a member of our Team at all times, even if the physical shop is closed.
Product Descriptions dry goods, Sex, Size and Age of Tortoises offered. It is not possible to guarantee the sex, the size or age, of the tortoise you are purchasing, unless this is specifically stated: in an Article 10 Certificate, on our website, or is stated in an email from us, before your order is despatched. Horsfields, Hermann’s and Leopard tortoises we are only aware of the year of hatch as stated in the product descriptions on this website. Many people who have purchased from us over the past forty two years, frequently adopt the day and month they bought the tortoises, against the known year of hatch. We have built excellent relationships with many very successful breeders over the years, and for them to keep record of each individually hatched tortoises, day and month would be almost impossible. Where two tortoises are bought together, it does not imply that they are male and female.
As Manufacturers and suppliers are constantly updating their products, such as Tortoise Tables and other enclosures, we reserve the right to supply an alternative, of equal or better retail price. Therefore the Tortoise Table you receive, may not be identical to the one you have ordered from us.
Photographs shown on this website, are general and are not of the specific tortoise, you will receive. It may be difficult for us to keep separate a specific tortoise that you like the colour of.
Delivery. Weekly delivery service. You will not necessarily receive a delivery the same week you order. BUT it is possible depending upon the day we receive your order with full payment. The Animal Courier has a cut off day/time for deliveries to be made on the Thursday. Please read the following before you order. We will contact you via email, usually within a few hours of receiving your order, to arrange a mutually convenient date to deliver your new tortoise. We never deliver tortoises without first agreeing a delivery date with you. Once we have offered you a proposed delivery date by email, YOU must email us back, to confirm that a responsible person, will be available at the delivery address, to accept delivery on the agreed date. In the case of where a customer places an order over the telephone with us, by emailing us back to accept our offer of the delivery date, you are confirming, you accept our terms of business. Please keep an eye on spam folders in case our email should end up there.
When emailing us back, you must identify yourself by including your full name and address provided when you ordered online. Please add us to your safe Contacts, to ensure you receive our timely emails. A specific delivery time, is never offered due to various factors outside of the delivery drivers control, road traffic conditions, weather etc. You the customer are agreeing to accept a delivery only on an agreed day. It is our experience, that HiFlyers Couriers, will call our customers, the day before delivery is due, to advise our customers of a rough delivery time. This is always subject to things such as weather and traffic conditions prevailing on the day of delivery.
Unfavourable weather conditions, which would be against the best welfare requirements of the tortoise, may necessitate that your delivery will be rescheduled for an alternative delivery date.
On rare occasions it may be necessary for us to re schedule your delivery day. This can be because of circumstances beyond our control, such as delivery of a specific tortoise to us direct from the breeder. In these circumstances no refunds will be made, unless we are not in a position to confirm a revised estimated delivery date.
Returns, and cancellation policy. In accordance with the distance selling law you have a 7 day cooling off period in which you have the right to cancel your purchase and receive a refund for the products excluding any (postage of dry goods) or animal courier delivery costs. This is subject to (a) the products being returned to us by you the customer, in their original condition, (b) we do not organise any courier to return of any animal or dry goods product to us, (c) cost for the products return at the customers own expense, (d) all returned products are subject to a 20% restocking fee and (e) before returning any product, you must first obtain from our customer services Team via email, a ‘returns number.’ If you cancel your order before we deliver it to you, but after you have sent us an email confirming you will accept delivery, we will charge you the full unsubsidised delivery charge. The current unsubsidised livestock delivery charge is £65.00.
Livestock Guarantee. Unlike most other companies, we offer a thirty day health guarantee of all tortoises bought from us. This applies to retail customers only. In the very unlikely event that your tortoise should die within thirty days of delivery date to you, if we are satisfied that you have expressly followed our Tortoise care advice,  and not taken advice from a third party, we would replace the tortoise free of charge. Should this situation arise, the customer will  be liable to first pay the unsubsidised animal courier delivery charge, which is currently £65.00.
Refunds. If we decide for any reason, to refund the full amount of money, you have paid to us, at the point the refund is made, this will be deemed to be the end to our legal contract with you. You can expect a refund can take up to 28 working days to process.
Tortoise Welfare Advice. Please be aware, particularly when researching the care of tortoises, there is a lot of conflicting, very inaccurate and poor information on the internet about appropriate care. We are very happy to offer free advice, based upon forty two years of keeping, and supplying healthy tortoises. If you purchase a tortoise from us, but them subsequently decide to take advice from a third party regarding its care, it will invalidate your guarantee with our company. Please ask us if you want free helpful, professional tortoise advice.
All Hermann’s tortoises advertised on this website, were captive bred at a CITES (Convention on Trade In Endangered Species) facility in Macedonia. This allows them to get the best start in life, benefiting from predictable long warm sunny days. This allows the Hermanns to bask in the most natural of all conditions, from their day of hatch. Western Dwarf Hermann’s a sub species of the usual common kept Hermann’s, are rare and captive bred in the UK, and are therefore more expensive. Usually the Western Dwarf Hermann’s which we offer every year, their eggs are incubated for female.
All Hermann’s (the Eastern the normally seen ones and rare Western Dwarf sub species) are microchipped and each delivered with an Article 10 Certificate.

Our latest unannounced Inspection of all our Animals was made by our local authority on 21st October 2023. No Animal Welfare issues were found.
